Join Zimbabwean musician, mbira player, percussionist, and educator Piwai for an interactive musical adventure designed especially for young children and their families.
Through drumming, singing, movement, storytelling, and hands-on exploration of traditional African instruments, families will discover the joy of making music together while learning about the rich cultural traditions of Zimbabwe.
This playful and engaging workshop encourages creativity, listening skills, confidence, coordination, and connection between parents and children.
No musical experience is required.

About Piwai
Piwai is a Zimbabwean vocalist, mbira player (gwenyambira), percussionist, storyteller, and cultural educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She contributed percussion to the Grammy Award-winning album Last Days of Oakland by Fantastic Negrito and has performed internationally, sharing the music and traditions of Zimbabwe with audiences of all ages.
Passionate about preserving and celebrating African cultural heritage, Piwai creates joyful, inclusive spaces where families can connect through rhythm, storytelling, creativity, and community.
